The summer heat has really picked up lately and I’m glad to report my campaign for state representative has too. Monday night we had over 200 people turn out for the campaign kickoff as we literally had a packed house at the Eagles Lodge. Current state representative Shannon Cooper started things off and vowed because of term limited we wouldn’t have to listen to many more of his speeches; which seemed to be a hit with the crowd. Shannon introduced me next and I was encouraged as the crowd nodded with approval over hearing my stance on the main issues like cracking down on illegal immigrants, keep state spending and taxes under control, protecting 2nd amendment rights, supporting public education, and protecting the lives of the unborn.
It was really great to have so many family and friends show up from all parts of the district for the hog roast. It was also humbling to have so many new faces show up that decided to brave the heat and ask how they could get involved in the campaign. In addition, one of the hottest commodities other than the amazing barbecue were the new Scott Largent yard signs. (And I promise to have more on hand for those who want to put one up and didn’t have the chance to get one after the event.) The kickoff went great and I can’t say enough how energizing it was to have such a great turnout and widespread support. The next couple months are going to take a lot of hard work, but our campaign team is ready for the challenge – even in the heat.
