If you travel up and down highway thirteen, you may have noticed a lot of construction along the west side of the road at Lowry City. This place has been the object of several rumors. We've heard that it was going to be everything from a simple gas station to a full sized truck stop. As sticklers for the truth, however, we decided to go to the source and ask the visionary and owner of Alexander Farms- who is making the store.
“It's basically a small convenience store.” He Says.”It'll have some groceries and some grab and go stuff, like burritos and breakfast pizza, but we'll have a deli open for lunch. The deli will be kind of like Subway with fresh meats It won't be a restaurant, with waitresses or anything, but there'll be a few tables and a patio area if you want to stay and eat.” It'll also have a coffee island with gourmet coffee, and it's promised that it will be very professional. They're also going to have a section devoted to the Amish that they can sell their wares at in sort of a farmers market.
One of the other things that makes it desirable is the fact that you won't have to cross the street to get some items. There has been a problem with this intersection and accidents. One of the things that they will be doing is putting in a turn lane so people can get off of the highway to get to their store. He also wants to emphasize that he's not trying to take business away from Shelby's. “This is more aimed at the town.” He says. “We're not trying to be a truck stop, since Shelby's has already go that covered.” The final word? “I just want our customers to feel that we're treating them right. We're going to try to give it a homey, comfortable feel and try to become part of the community.”
