Sam Brownback (R-KS) has officially declared that he is running for president in 2008. He kicked it off in his home state of Kansas at the heritage hall in Topeka. He stated that he's doing it because our land needs healing. While not on the radar screens of a lot of the conservative talk shows, especially when compared to Giuliani and McCain, Sam has a definite appeal to the more conservative out there.
Many of the republicans felt like they were being let down by their own party, and voted democrat (or didn't vote at all) in response to the republicans not living up to their conservative roots. This is where Sam comes in. There was a supporter with a sign there that said 'Sam Brownback: a true conservative'
Will he appeal to America at large? We'll see, but it's nice to have a candidate so who might have some Midwestern sense.
