Who are these people?

Truman Lake News is a project started by two Friends- Daniel Veach and Christopher Allen. Originally it was Golden Valley TV, and was a once a week news program for the Truman Lake area. The Name Truman Lake News was added due to two facts.

Along with the name change came a format change. Due to a lack of broadband capability from some customers, we switched to a text and video mix. This allowed our dial up customers to access the site, and it allowed the site to provide more news from diffferent sources.

In February of 07 we added a weekly NewFlyer with some of the articles on it. It's passed out once a week at some 90 or so businesses in Benton, Henry and St. Clair counties. This has proved to be very popular, and it's expanding all of the time.

In December of 2007 Daniel left to become a missionary in The Sonora Mountains of Mexico.

Mission Statement

Truman Lake News is devoted to producing uplifting news and programs that portray the Truman Lake community in a positive light while also providing the community with local video news that it wouldn't be able to otherwise get. TLN is also dedicated to providing news that isn't a carbon copy of every big company out there. (McNews)

We will change the paradigm of the area and us on the Internet the first source of news that people go to for all of their news and local entertainment.

How do I watch the video?

The stories that have video attached to then will have a little dropbox right below them with the words 'Watch Video'. Click on the little arrow pointing down to display the drop menu.

Flash and Real are different formats, Broadband and Dial up are speeds. If you have a fast connection use Broadband, is you have a slow connection use dial up. After you've chosen a format and speed, click on the 'Go' button.

What's the best way to view the video?

Real Video. The quality is just better. We offer video in Flash format as well, but when it comes to quality, Real just tramples all over Flash. However, Not everyone has Real Player. If you don't have the Flash plugin, it takes significatly less time to download than Real Player, making Flash available to just about anyone. But if you have the time and bandwidth to download Real, would recommend it. You can get it by clicking on the icon below.

It works pretty much like this.

My Monitor's really small- is there any way to but it on my TV?

Yes there is! You'll need a special video card (you may already have one) or a newer tv with a digital input. Check and see if you have an S-video or RCA output on out of your video card (a lot of laptops have Both) This will go right to your TV

Buy a converter- Radio Shack has a lot of them.

Get Apple's Apple TV. If you have the money it's a really cool toy to have.

Get a newer TV. Most of the newer TVs have a DVI input, which connects right to your computer. These TVs also have a higher resolution rate as well (HDTV), while the older ones aren't really capable of reaching that resolution.

Are you ever going to start showing the weekly shows again?

This is a priority for us. The problem is, we have to get TLN fully functional first. We were going to do it last summer, but that was when we had some personel changes. Now we're looking at late spring 08. One thing we need is an anchor, though.

Are you going to do any more sports?

As with the last answer- Yes. We want to do get the scores, film the games and show the highlites at the games we don't film. It's on our list, and we hope to get it done this year.

We want to do not only sports, but History, cooking, fishing, kids shows and whatever elese we can comeo up with. This is the Golden Valley TV side. We will eventually be producing our own shows.

Is this a Christian Publication?

Yes and no. The purpose of the company isn't to print nothing but Christian articles, but we don't shy away from it either. We are Christians, but the purpose of TLN is stated up above. Positive uplifting news- Writing Christian articles gives the churches a voice too. Something that is far too infrequent in the secular media (which we consider ourselves part of.)
